flippin' out

both nissa and i, that is. saturday morning i was getting ready, so i plopped nissa down into her bumbo on the floor in the bedroom. she was playing with her plush radio toy (it resembles a radio, plays 2 short songs if you push on the front). since the bathroom is immediately adjacent to the bedroom, i went in there to brush my teeth, leaving nissa where she was. i heard a soft thump and assumed she chucked her radio toy, which makes sense because of the little battery pack. then it occurred to me that maybe i should grab her a 2nd toy option just in case. i get back to the bedroom (granted i've been gone for maybe 20 seconds) and she's on the floor on her tummy NEXT TO the bumbo, feeling around the dusty hairballs that have gathered under our nightstand. i suspect she stretched out (she's been working on that skill for a while now) reached the nightstand and used that to pull herself out. i'm glad it was a non-eventful experience, but a definite red flag that i can't just leave nissa alone in previously safe spots (on the floor, in the bumbo, in the pack n play, on the changing table) because she'll just crawl away!

even diaper changes are becoming more of a wrestling match. in a split second after her diaper is removed she's flipped onto her tummy, pulled herself to the end of the table and is pulling on the wire shelving unit next to it. she even got herself so close so as to suck on the one shelf. i don't have enough arms to get the new diaper on her!

while i'm here, i'm pleased to report green beans are a success. plus, nissa's really getting the hang of opening up her mouth for the spoon and actually swallowing most of what i offer. she's only eating maybe a teaspoon of food, but i appreciate her efforts.
