i finished a very special project yesterday and i have a bit of yarn left. it's a super cool yarn and i can't wait to do something else with it, if only my lovely daughter hadn't done something with it already.
nissa has always been attracted to the little blue ball of yarn. she came with me to the store when we petted all different kinds of yarn and picked out the softest, coziest yarn we could find. she always likes to help me crochet or knit, and pull yarn out "for me" from the skein. last night though, was a doozie of a help session.
when i was waiting for the bus this morning, i decided on my next project for the yarn, but realized i needed to sort out the yarn a bit first. i sorted waiting 15 minutes for the bus (a long time to wait for a bus, by the way), i sorted while riding the bus for another 20 minutes, i sorted waiting for the train, then while riding the train for about 25 minutes. i even sorted walking to work (tricky, but i managed, with a growing trail almost dragging behind me). i sorted some more during my morning pump break (after working out first, of course). i plan to sort the rest in my afternoon pump break.
i'm not sure how nissa got the once-neat skein into the tangled mess that's occupied me so much today. a small part of me is annoyed that i have to take time away from knitting to detangle the yarn. but a much bigger part of me is amused to sort through the loops and twists created by an enthusiastic 10 month old. plus, there's a certain level of meditation-like concentration involved with detangling that i secretly enjoy. i get to enjoy it while fishing often, but adam and i haven't fished much this year.
i guess the key is to just enjoy the process!
