we've tried to teach nissa how to give kisses for a while, but she never really caught on. sometimes she seems to be willing to go mouth-to-mouth with you, but there's usually tongue involved and that's just not what we're looking for. now lately, she's been tucking her lips in, mouth slightly open for a kiss, which works a lot better. it's really cute. we're still working on blowing kisses.
a little think i do with nissa is to take one of her stuffed animals, sing a simple tune and make them "dance." sometimes i finish with them dancing in close and giving her a kiss. she thinks it's hilarious, so i try do this often. over the weekend, we were playing with nissa's little pooh bear (thanks amy and karl), having it dance up arms and legs and giving nissa kisses. to my surprise and delight, nissa would take the bear herself and "do do do" and move the doll around then hold it up to my lips for a kiss. we took turns at this for a while and i just loved it- she's totally imitating something we do with her. adam and i were both impressed.
i'm also impressed by how much more cruising nissa has been doing. she seems to be favoring more and more to walk along furniture then to get back down on all fours and crawl. maybe she'll show off for family in detroit?
nissa and i joined my coworker meg to see the lighting of michigan avenue saturday night. we missed mickey (who initiates the lights) in the parade but we did see santa. it was an interesting experience, to say the least. i then dropped her off and grandparents a's house to head out to an ATV show at cubby bear. a long, fun filled day to say the least.
my monday has already started out great, so i hope i can keep it going for the 2 days i have to be at work this week. after nursing nissa and burping her, i was holding her in my arms for a vain attempt to snuggle before heading off to work. i told her how i have to go to work, that i have to go bye bye. she then took her thumb from her mouth, waved and said, "bye bye." it was sooooo cool!
