thanksgiving, family photos

so last weekend was the adventurous trip out to dearborn, mi to spend thanksgiving with adam's mom's family. it's an annual tradition that we all enjoy. the drive out was a bit rough with traffic, as was the drive back, but most of the time there was wonderful. it's always a pleasure to catch up with everyone over several meals, it's so relaxing and homey. adam's grandma very generously lets us stay at her house (as well as adam's parents and aaron's family) so it often leads to late nights and grand sleep over-type experiences.

we were looking forward to showing off nissa, and perhaps witnessing her first steps (she's still holding out on us!). but instead nissa developed a fever (got up to 103' at the worst) and was the fussiest we've seen her. ever. our usually happy-go-lucky, sit with anyone, chill baby became a cranky, only calm with mommy, refusing to sleep critter that proved frustrating at times. oh well. you can't have a perfect baby all the time, right?

yesterday we had the good fortune of getting together with rick and his family to take family holiday photos at the garfield conservatory. the holiday flower show is in full bloom and the showhouse is gorgeous with poinsettias, a giant christmas tree, holly, mistletoe, the works. we snapped some fun shots of everyone and i think we all came away with photos that were ready to be used for christmas cards. hooray!

today we're supposed to get our christmas tree, but we haven't yet determined how we're going to keep nissa out of harm's way. there was talk of purchasing a play yard fence type thing, but that didn't happen yet. we don't really plan on decorating all that much anyways (maybe some lights and a few choice ornaments), so maybe it'll work out fine. i guess we'll just wing it!
