april's here!

wow. having a baby really does make the time fly. not to mention logistically difficult to blog. first, there's the timing issue. then there's the issue of my now 20 week old baby trying to grab everything she can- difficult for holding her on my lap while eating, drinking, crocheting, typing, having hair, etc. don't get me wrong- i love that she's developing new skills, but sometimes i miss being able to multi-task with her in my arms. oh, and forget about cradling her- if she's not upright with a clear view of the room or at least what you're doing, forget about it. she's a pushy little thing who knows exactly what she wants. but she's too cute for words, so she always gets her way.

nissa has taken to exercising her vocal cords regularly, especially right before bedtime. she loves to scream- but she's not upset or crying, just making noise, LOUDLY. it was cute at first, but now we're starting to regret encouraging her. we laugh, yell with her and she loves it. when she's not yelling she's having a giggling fit. if she's trying to engage us. . . it's working! oh, the giggles. if you find something she likes, she could go on for hours. adam actually told me to stop and let her catch her breath. . . it is addicting! all you have to do is pretend to eat her foot, kiss her nose, sometimes just talk in a silly voice and she goes and goes like the energizer bunny. so much fun.

but, when it's time for bed, i have another treat now. nissa has taken to sleeping on her belly. she can roll from belly to back like a pro (as long as she gets her one arm in the right spot) and is not afraid to ask for help, so we have no worries putting her to bed this way now. she seems to sleep soundly this way, and since this is how i prefer to sleep, i'm glad to get her into this comforting habit too. adam and i both spent our infancy on our tummies to no ill effect, so i'm glad to finally be confident to do the same for nissa.

just a few quick thoughts, before i have to go pump- i'm so excited to get my new pump! i have the ol' reliable PISA, but it's a bit heavy and cumbersome for the commute. i just ordered the freestyle friday, so any day now i'll have the smaller, lighter pump to handle my business so much easier! plus, i'll be able to leave the big one at home and just use the small one on the go. much easier for the mornings.

yesterday was supposed to be the sox home opener, but it was delayed till today due to weather - snow and wind! yipes. come on, mother nature! it's baseball season now. i'll give you cold, rainy, whatever. but no snow. so, we didn't go yesterday and now we have 2 tickets to exchange for a later date. we HAVE to make this a priority to go. i think i'll get adam to go this summer. but, yesterday wasn't a total wash. we got to hang out as a family, but also get some stuff done, like reclaim the dining room and upstairs bathroom, clean, do laundry and make plans for the attic. plans we can fulfill now, not $$ plans we can't afford right now. till next weekend!!
