happy easter

i'm going to try to post something at least once a week, so here goes.

easter was this past weekend and with a little one, it was not all that exciting. but, it got me thinking about how i'd like to incorporate religion into little nissa's life. i think it would be fun to have a passover meal on thursday, read a story about the stations of the cross on friday and go to church saturday night or sunday. i think part of the reason i enjoyed church when i was little was that there was stuff to do, beyond going every sunday and singing, standing, kneeling, etc. thatn, and i enjoyed the community of church. that's what i'm hoping i can get adam into. . . he's not a very religious person (neither am i, really) but going to church and enjoying the company of other armenian families is just as important and as viable a method of passing on the culture. i'm thinking about getting together with other younger people from the congregation to plan a young-people-ceremony. everything churchy, but with a more convenient time than sunday morning. i'm thinking saturday evening at 6 or 7. . . not early, but early enough in the evening to work into "saturday night" plans. i think it would work!

nissa's been growing so much, it is truly amazing. she's starting to feel "heavy" and is getting super long. she's starting to hold on when she's eating (boob and bottle) and is engaging us more. she even has taken an interest in the dog. nissa will stare at gibson, often smiling, right in the eyes and just take him in. she will often reach out to him to grab is fur, ears, teeth, whatever is in reach. gibson is always a good sport about it- he'll lick her hands or just sit quietly, no matter how hard she pulls.

nissa's latest trick (though it's been going on a while) is her spring-loaded legs on the changing table. as soon as her diaper is off, whoosh go her legs so her toes are in her mouth. you really have to pry them from her grip to get the clean diaper on. she loves those toes! and oddly enough, changing her diaper will keep her quiet if she's being fussy. i guess she likes a diaper change (good access to toes, perhaps?) because she'll get as quiet and content as could be once you lay her down.

we continue to find new and interesting ways to make her laugh. eating her tummy seems to work pretty well, so does a jiggling superman. the giggles are the best part of the day.
